Lot 501 501. Alice Beach Winter (American, b.1877), "Reading in the Pergola", c.1915; oil/canvas, 24" x 20", signed. Winter worked primarily in Gloucester, MA, painting children and landscapes. She studied with Twachtman and Decamp, and exhibited at the National Academy and the Los Angeles Museum. She also illustrated children's stories. This is an outstanding example of this artist's work, and a fine example of American impressionist painting. 6000-8000
