1180. Philip Pearlstein (American, b.1924), "Temple at Paestum", c.1983; etching and aquatint, 30" x 41", signed and dated. Pearlstein was a talented realist painter in his late teens. He was drafted into the army in 1943, and after the war moved to New York to study at NYU. He then adopted an abstract expressionist style which he maintained until the early 1960s. Moving full circle, Pearlstein once again, became what he called, "a post-abstract realist". His images are literal, but are presented in a non traditional compostion, which gives them a more dramatic, modern edge. 600-800 |

1181. Eduoard Buk Ulreich (Austrian/American, b.1889) "Wild Horses", c.1940; casein/board, 15" x 18", signed. International style artist and designer. Ulreich exhibited in Vienna and Paris in the 1920s-30s. He executed murals in Radio City Music Hall and the Century of Progress Expo in Chicago. He eventually settled in San Francisco. 1000-2000 |
