1084. Fred Green Carpenter (American, 1882-1965), "Figure beside a Stream, Evening" c.1939; oil/board, 24" x 20", signed and dated. Carpenter studied with Richard Miller at the St. Louis School of Fine Art and in Paris. He returned from Paris in 1911, to teach at the St. Louis School of Fine Art, a position he maintained for fifty years.
