1043. Adolph Robert Shulz (American, 1869-1963), "Haystacks", c.1920; oil/board, 20" x 24", signed. Shulz was considered to be the founder of the Nashville Art Colony (Indiana), first visiting there in 1900. He moved there with his wife, Ada, who was also a painter, in 1917. He painted landscapes and exhibited at the Hoosier salon and the Brown County Art Association regularly. He began taking students and eventually left his wife to marry Alberta Rehm, a young student painter. While Shulz's family life was chaotic, his art and his subject, nature, were his sanctuaries. 3500-4500 |

Albright specialized in scenes of his children in daily activity outdoors.
