Treadway Gallery sales leader in 20th Century Fine American & European Paintings 1030. Pauline Palmer (American, 1867-1938), "Young Girl at the Piano", c.1898; oil/canvas, 18" x 13", signed and dated. Important Chicago impressionist painter. Palmer began exhibiting at the Art Institue of Chicago annuals in 1898. Palmer painted figurative works, still lifes, and landscapes. She went to Paris around the turn of the century, and worked with American expatriate painter, Richard Miller. She exhibited at the Society of Western Artists, World's Fair St. Louis (1904), Chicago Artist's Guild, and the Chicago Gallery Association. A fine early work by this important painter. 6000-8000

Miller (American, 1875-1943), "View of the Seine", c.1901; oil/canvas, 23" x 16", signed, dated, and titled, excellent period frame. Highly important American impressionist. Miller worked in Paris from 1898-1914, and he taught at the Academie Colarossi in 1901. Miller was one of the most well-known American painters who met at Monet's home in Giverny to paint and socialize. 10,000-15,000
