1030. Pauline Palmer (American, 1867-1938), "Young Girl at the Piano", c.1898; oil/canvas, 18" x 13", signed and dated. Important Chicago impressionist painter. Palmer began exhibiting at the Art Institue of Chicago annuals in 1898. Palmer painted figurative works, still lifes, and landscapes. She went to Paris around the turn of the century, and worked with American expatriate painter, Richard Miller. She exhibited at the Society of Western Artists, World's Fair St. Louis (1904), Chicago Artist's Guild, and the Chicago Gallery Association. A fine early work by this important painter. 6000-8000 |
