Treadway Gallery sales leader in 20th Century Fine American & European Paintings 1023. Frank C. Peyraud (American, 1858-1948), "Landscape with Cottage", c.1920; oil/canvasboard, 16" x 20", signed. Chicago impressionist painter. He studied at the Art Institute of Chicago, and exhibited in Chicago and nationally. His work is included in numerous collections, including the Union League Club (Chicago) and the Art Institute of Chicago. Emile Gruppe (American, 1896-1978), "Backyard Scene", c.1930; oil/canvas laid down on board, 16" x 12" , signed, nice original frame. Emile was the son of painter, Charles P. Gruppe. He specialized in landscapes and harbor scenes of the new England area. A nice early example. 1500-2500

John Whorf (American, 1903-1959), "New England Winter", c.1930; watercolor/paper, 15" x 20", signed, well framed and matted. Whorf was one of America's most important watercolorists. He began to paint in watercolor in 1921, and three years later, had his first one man show at Boston's Grace Horne Gallery. This show was a tremendous success and he was heralded as Boston's leading watercolorist of the time. He traveled throughout his life, but continued to paint in New England his entire life. 5000-7000
