Well known impressionist landscape painter. Irvine studied at the Art Institute of Chicago and exhibited at the Chicago Society of Artists and the National Academy of Design. This landscape painter exhibited regularly from 1877 through the turn of the century at the National Academy of Design. Smith's technique was a soft edge realism, with a rich, yet natural, quality of light. 4000-6000
