553. Ward Lockwood (American, 1894-1963), “Adobe Worker”, c.1930; oil/board, 16" x 12", signed, Gerald Peters label verso. Lockwood studied at Kansas University and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art. He exhibited at the Art Institute of Chicago, Denver Art Museum, San Francisco Museum of Art, and the Museum of New Mexico. He painted murals in the Taos, New Mexico Court House. He taught at the University of Texas (Austin) from 1938-49, and at Berkeley (UC) from 1949-61. 2000-3000
