| You are invited to join us for our June 2000 Rookwood sale at the
Museum Center in Cincinnati. This year's sale contains special pieces of
Rookwood
that have not appeared on the market before. Included in this auction
are a half
dozen silver overlays, numerous scenics and floral vellums, and several
examples
with Native Americans, including a full length portrait by Matt Daly.
Several painted matts are being sold, along with early Rookwood examples
of
various glaze styles, including pieces by Maria Longworth Nichols. Among
the
standard glaze to be sold is a huge floral floor vase by A.R. Valentien.
In later works,
there are two outstanding porcelains by Jensen, as well as pieces by
Barrett,
Hentschel and others. There are several outstanding Iris glazes,
including pieces by
Schmidt and Valentien. There are over 12 plaques including vellums by
Epply, Diers,
McDermott, Hurley, Rothenbusch & Schmidt. A rare Sea Green plaque by
Valentien
is one of the sales most important pieces. Several fine examples of
Black Opal as well
as an important and large Iris glaze by Shirayamadani makes this an
outstanding sale.
