| 571. Leon Gaspard (American, 1882-1964), "Red Tomahawk", c.1940; oil/paper laid down on board (original), 17" x 13", signed, titled, dated verso. Highly important Taos painter. Gaspard was Russian-born, and studied in Moscow and in Paris before moving to New York in 1916. Two years later he moved to Taos, NM.
