546. Clark Summers Marshall (American, 1861-1944), "Early Autumn", c.1910; oil/canvas, 24" x 30", signed, nicely framed. Baltimore painter. Marshall studied at the Maryland Institute, and painted along the Eastern shore of the state. He specialized in twilight and moonlight scenes in the tonalist aesthetic. In 1929, he became the minister of the Methodist Protestant Church with parishes in outlying Maryland counties. REF: Art across America: Two Centuries of Regional Painting.
