| 758. Charles and Ray Eames prototype rocker, base designed for the Museum of Modern Art "International Competition for Low-Cost Furniture Design" in 1948, original steel rod "X" base on restored birch runners and later orange fiberglass shell, 25"w x 28"d x 27"h, very good condition 2500-3500
This example was reconstructed from an original base fragment. The runners were recreated to original specifications. The original shell was made of stamped, insulated steel and was never mass-produced. Fiberglass shells had not been developed at time of the competition.
