| 536. Johann Berthelsen (Danish/American, b.1883-1967), "St. Paul's Chapel", c.1935; oil/canvas, 12" x 9", signed, original frame. Well known for his snow scenes of New York City. He was a member of the Salmagundi Club and the American Watercolor Society. He was active in Chicago, teaching music from 1911-12, and exhibited at the Art Institute of Chicago in 1925. He was a friend of painter Svend Svendsen, who encouraged him to paint full time. 2000-3000 |
