(American/Irish, early 20th century),
"Road Round, Ireland", c.1920;
oil/canvas, 36" x 40", signed, label on
verso from Carnegie Institute. MacIntosh studied with H.B. Snell,
and exhibited throughout the 1910s-20s at the Art Institute of
Chicago, National Academy of Design, Cincinnati Museum,
National association of Women Painters and Sculptors, and the Plastic
Club (Philadelphia). Her work was included in a
retrospective exhibition in 1998 at the Westmoreland Museum
of American Art, titled, "The Philadelphia Ten".
This exhibit featured the work of the 23
painters and 7 sculptors that were associated with this group, who
exhibited together from 1917-1945.
