| 496. Albert Sterner (American, 1863-1946), "The
Japanese Print", c.1911; oil/canvas, 32" x 25", signed and
dated, several exhibition labels verso, including
"Anglo-American Exposition, London, 1914. Sterner studied
in Paris at the Academie Julian, and with Gerome.
He exhibited extensively at the National Academy of
Design, Art Institute of Chicago, Pennsylvania Academy of
Fine Art, Newport Art Association, Paris Salon, and the
Paris Expo. His work is in the collections of numerous
museums and public collections, and he also had a very
