(American, 1853-1926), "End of the
Day", c.1900; oil/canvas, 24" x 36", signed. Inness studied with his
father in Rome, and in Paris. He was best known as a landscape
and animal painter, and he also worked as an illustrator. He maintained
a studio in Paris from 1895-99. He exhibited at the Brooklyn
Art Association (1876-79); National Academy of Design
(1877-1926); Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art (1879-81, 1898-1904);
Paris Salon, and the Art Institute of Chicago. REF:
