| 474. Thomas Creswick (British, 1811-1869), "The King
Fisher's Haunt", c.1853; oil/canvas, 21" x 28", signed and dated. Born
in Sheffield, England. His contributions to the Birmingham
Exhibition of 1826 captured considerable attention. Arriving in London
in 1828, he showed two paintings at the Royal Academy in the
same year. He exhibited there until his death, and was elected A.R.A.
in 1842, and R.A. in 1851. He also exhibited at the British
Institute (1828-1869), Birmingham Society of Artists (1829-1838).
