| 460. Peter Moran (American, 1841-1914) lot of three graphite
drawings heightened with white gouache; one pictured: "Cows
Watering", c.1886; each measures 9" x 12", the pictured image is signed,
the other two are not. These sketches were together in a portfolio,
which was signed and dated. Peter, along with his brothers, Edward
and Thomas, apprenticed as lithographers in Philadelphia. He
studied with two important animal painters, Rosa Bonheur and Landseer.
He was a member of the New York Society of Etchers,
Philadelphia Arts and Crafts Guild, and the Philadelphia Society of Etchers.
