480. Fred Grayson Sayre (American, 1879-1939), "Trapped", c.1925; oil/canvas, 36" x 28", signed, original frame. Sayre was primarily self-taught. He first came to California in 1917. He exhibited at the Los Angeles County Museum in 1922, and that same year held a one man show in San Francisco. He built a home and studio in Glendale in 1924. He was a member of the Palette and Chisel Club of Chicago and was the co-founder of the Painters and Sculptors of Los Angeles. 7000-9000 |
