464. Dawson Dawson-Watson (American, 1864-1939), "Texas Landscape", c.1938; oil/board, 10" x 8", signed. Dawson-Watson painted in Giverny just before the turn of the century. Eventually, he ended up in St. Louis, where he stayed from 1904-1915. His best subjects were southwest scenes and Texas landscapes (he moved to San Antonio in 1927). The combination of this type of subject matter with his style of painting, which was highly influenced by Monet, produced powerful images. 2000-3000 |
