A first at auction, the Ray Eames Splint Sculpture illustrates an important link in the collaboration between Charles and Ray. Ray's pursuit of pure artistic forms influenced by her studies with Hans Hofmann, actively helped to define the dynamic forms of the molded plywood chair. This example shares a special history through the connection of Parke Meek. Parke was an important contributor to the Eames Office where he work for over twenty years. The splint was a personal gift from Ray. 2144 Charles and Ray Eames Photograph, c.1942
