The child's chair from 1945 is the first Eames furniture design to be
put into production. The chair
encapsulates many of the motifs that would come to characterize
their work, from the use of molded
plywood, to the economy of form
for mass production. The chair is
simple but avoids plainness by the
heart cut-out. The shape immediately
suggests its function: the soft
rounded edges are ideal handholds for young fingers. It is the perfect combination of
function and delight. The chair originally sold for $2.10.
