Charles and Ray Eames Chaise, c.1968 manufactured by Herman Miller sand-cast aluminum frame with an eggplant colored vinyl coating with black leather cushions on a plasticized sheet support, 75Ów x 18Ód x 27Óh, excellent condition 2000-3000 Inspired by a remark from the EamesÕ friend the director Billy Wilder, the Chaise is designed for the perfect afternoon rest. Due to the narrow frame, one would have to sleep with arms crossed. Inevitably oneÕs arms would slip and cause the sleeper to awake, thus ending the catnap. |
