661. Alexander H. Wyant (American, 1836-1892), "Forest Stream", c.1867; oil/canvas, 24" x 20", signed, fine original frame. Wyant worked in the later part of the Hudson River School, and received significant recognition for his landscapes. His work during this period was luminous and delicately painted. He worked closely with George Inness, and studied at the National Academy of Design. This is a fine example of Wyant's best period. 4000-6000 |

Originally from England, Wood arrived in the U.S. in 1911 and soon moved to California, where he became the leading figure in the artist's colony at Laguna Beach. His California scenes and Texas Bluebonnet paintings are his most desirable subjects. 4000-6000 |
