487. Emma Bird King (American, 1858-1933), "Still Life with Apples and Jugs", c.1890; oil/canvas, 20" x 24", signed. Important, early Indiana painter. She studied in New York and Paris, and was a member of the Society of Women Painters and Sculptors, Indiana Art Club, National League of American Pen Women, and the Indiana Poetry Society. King was a poet as well as a painter, and many of her poems were published. 2000-3000

Beneker studied at the Art Institute of Design and the Art Students League, and was a member of the Provincetown Art Association, Beachcomber's Club, and the Scarab Club. he worked in Grand Rapids, Detroit, and Provincetown. He painted portraits and harbor scenes. 1500-2500
