| 451. Edward Gay (American, 1837-1928), "Spring Blossoms", c.1900; oil/canvas, 16" x 24", signed, nice frame. Well known landscape painter. Gay was born in Ireland, and moved to the U.S. in 1848, settling with his family in Albany, NY. He was urged to paint by the Hart brothers and George Boughton. He traveled to Germany in the early 1860s to study further. When he returned to the U.S. in 1867, he lived in Mount Vernon, NY, just north of New York City. He painted there, as well as making several trips to Europe. 2000-3000 |

| 452. William Graham (American, 1842-1911), "Venetian Doorway", c.1884; oil/canvas, 20" x 16", signed and dated. Graham was born in Rome, but spent much of his time in Italy, painting Venice and Rome. He sometimes traveled with artists, Elihu Vedder, Frederico Del Campo, and Charles Caryl Coleman. He exhibited Venetian scenes as early as 1872 at the Brooklyn Artists Asssociation; and he also exhibited at the National Academy and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art. 3000-5000 |

John Snell Cotman (British, 1782-1842), "View of Town and Shipping on a Canal", c.1830; watercolor/paper, 9" x 13", unsigned, but identified on mat and by (very old) label on verso, from Christie's, Manson, and Woods, 8 King Street, St. James Sq., London. Well known watercolorist, Cotman specialized in small genre scenes and architecture. 4000-6000 |
