| 676. Frank Enders
(American, 19th-20th century), "Disregarded Advice", c.1886;
oil/canvas, 41" x 54", signed. Important early
Milwaukee painter. Enders studied with Henry Vianden and at
the Munich Academy. He exhibited at the Milwaukee Industrial Expositions in
the 1880s and the Omaha Exhibition (1898). He also participated in the Society
of Milwaukee Artists annuals. This group's members
were invited to participate in the sixth annual exhibition
of works by Chicago artists at the Art Institute of Chicago
in 1902. REF: Art Across America: Two Centuries
of Regional Painting, William Gerdts. This is an
outstanding example of this artist's work and an important,
early example of Milwaukee painting.
