447. Carl Schmidt (American, 1885-1969), "Scouting Party", c.1915; oil/canvas, 25" x 30", signed, fine carved frame. California Painter. Schmidt studied at the Art Institute of Chicago before moving to San Bernadino in 1924. Schmidt painted Indian life in Taos and Santa Fe, and these figurative works are rare and highly desirable. He exhibited at the Laguna Beach Art Association, San Bernadino Art Association, Stendahl Gallery, Los Angeles, and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. An outstanding example of Schmidt's work. 7000-9000

448. Colin Campbell Cooper (American, 1856-1937), "Garden of Alcazar", c.1913; oil/canvas, 26" x 20", signed with artist's address in Santa Barbara on stretcher, original frame. California painter. Cooper traveled extensively, and visited India twice, where this work was painted. He was also one of the earliest Taos artists, painting there before 1883. 4000-6000
