582. Alexander Corazzo (French/American, 1908-1971), "Non-Objective", c.1935; gouache/paper, 11" x 9", unsigned, from artist's estate, letter of provenance available, guaranteed. Important non-objective painter and member of the New Bauhaus. He studied in France at La Martiniere, Lyon (1920-24), and the Conservatoire Nationale de Musique de Lyon (1918-24). He was a member of two important non-objective art groups: American Abstract Artists (NYC) and the Abstraction-Creation Group (Paris). He exhibited throughout the 1930s-40s at the Art Institute of Chicago, Carnegie Institute, Detroit Institute of Art, San Francisco Museum of Art, and the Stendahl Gallery (Los Angeles). 600-800

583. Louis Schanker (American, 1903-1981), "Female Figure", c.1945; oil/canvas, 30" x 24", signed, from the estate of the artist. Important NYC abstract painter. He was a member of the American Abstract Artists and the American Art Congress. He executed WPA murals and was the director of the graphic arts program in the early 1940s. He exhibited at the Art Institute of Chicago, National Academy of Design, and the Whitney Museum. He taught at the Hew School for Social Research in NYC. 2500-3500
