574. Edgar Yaeger (American, 1904-1997), "The Seamstress", c.1936; oil/canvas, 21.5" x 28.5", signed and dated, from the estate of the artist. Important Detroit modernist painter. Yaeger worked in Paris with Lhote, Gromaire, and O. Friesz. He exhibited at the Detroit Institute of Art, Art Institute of Chicago, Museum of Modern Art, and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art (1930s-40s). His work is in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum, Los Angeles Museum, Whitney Museum, and the San Francisco Museum of Art.
