516. Thomas Birch (American, 1779-1851), "Returning from the Hunt", c.1837; oil/canvas, 17.5" x 25.5", signed and dated. Important early landscape and marine painter. Birch came to Philadelphia from England in 1794. His winter scenes are the most desirable landscape paintings by him. He exhibited frequently at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art, National Academy, and the Society of Artists. He and his father, William, worked together designing, engraving, and publishing views of Philadelphia. 20,000-30,000

517. Dey DeRibcowsky (American, b.1880), "Venice", c.1910; oil/canvas, 30" x 40", signed, ornate frame. The artist traveled and painted all over the world. He exhibited in Petrograd (1902), Rio de Janiero Expo (1909), Moscow (1910), and the Sofia National Gallery (1910). He spent a considerable amount of time in California as well. 1500-2500
