553. Frank C. Peyraud, (American, b.1858), "Summer Days", c.1910; oil/canvas, 25" x 30", signed, excellent original carved frame, titled on label verso. Important Chicago area landscape painter. He studied at the Art Institute of Chicago and in Paris. He exhibited from the 1890s-1920s, at the Chicago Society of Artists, Pan-Pacific Expo (San Francisco, 1915), and the Art Institute of Chicago. His work is in the collections of the Union League, Chicago and the Art Institute of Chicago. Peyraud also worked in California. This is an excellent example of his work. 4500-6500 |

554. Anthony Thieme (American, 1888-1954), "Venice", c.1925; oil/canvas, 30" x 24", signed, well framed. Thieme was born in Holland and came to the U.S. in the 1920s. He specialized in town scenes harbor scenes, and was a member of the Boston Art Club, North Shore Art Association, and the Rockport Art Association. He exhibited extensively in the 1920s and 30s, and won numerous awards. He established his own school in Rockport, MA. 8,000-10,000 |

555. Otto Stark (American, 1859-1926), "River Sunset", c.1900; watercolor and gouache/ paper, 7.5" x 12", unsigned, but accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Leland Howard. This work is cataloged as #181 in the Stark estate, and came originally from Mary Stark Oates. Highly important member of the Hoosier Group painters. Stark studied in Paris with Boulanger and Lefebvre. He was the founder of the Hoosier Salon, and exhibited there as well. His work is in numerous public and private collections, including the Herron Art Institute, Cincinnati Art Museum, Indianapolis Art Museum, and the University of Kansas. 2000-3000 |
