546. Richard Hayley Lever (American, 1876-1958), "St. Ives", c.1905; oil/board, 6" x 9", signed on verso (possibly signed on front), Christies label, great period carved frame. Lever was born in Australia, and moved to London in 1893. He settled at St Ives in Cornwall in 1900, where he painted marines. For the next ten years, the modified impressionist style he developed brought him much recognition in Europe. He moved to the U.S. in 1911, and continued a successful career as a painter. He painted scenes of NYC, Gloucester, and still lifes. His work is in the collections of the Brooklyn Museum, Baltimore Museum, L.A. County Museum, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. 2000-3000 |

547. Gustave Cimiotti (American, b.1875), "Evening Landscape", c.1910; oil/canvas, 24" x 22", signed, nicely framed. New York City artist. Well known for his tonalist landscapes, he was a member of the Salmagundi Club, and exhibited at the National Academy of Design. His work is in the collection of the Newark Museum. 1500-2500 |

548. Nicholas P. Briganti (Italian/American, 1895-1989), "Preparing the Day's Catch", c.1920; oil/canvas, 30" x 25", signed, fine original frame. Brigante began exhibiting in the 1920s in Los Angeles. He painted a variety of subject matter, and exhibited at the Art Institute of Chicago, L.A. County Museum, and the Oakland Museum. 2000-3000 |

549. Edmund Henry Wuerpel (American, 1866-1958), "An Evening in Early Summer", c.1942; oil/canvas, 25" x 30", signed and dated. Wuerpel studied with Whistler and Gerome in Paris. He was the Dean of the St. Louis School of Fine Art and was well known for his atmospheric landscapes. He exhibited extensively and won awards at the St. Louis Expo (1904), Pan-Pacific Expo (1915). 1500-2500 |
