713. Edgar Yaeger (American, 1904-1997), "Women in a Tuscan Landscape", c.1936; oil/canvas, 21" x 25", signed and dated, originated from the estate of the artist. Important Detroit modernist painter. Yaeger worked in Paris with Lhote and O. Friesz. He exhibited at the Detroit Institute of Art, Art Institute of Chicago, Museum of Modern Art, and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art (1930s-40s). His style was much more closely associated with the European modernists than the American contemporaries. 3000-4000 |

714. Angel Botello (Colombian, 1913-1986), a pair of color lithographs, one pictured: "Woman with Flowers", c.1960; 21" x 17", signed and numbered in pencil, 3/150. Botello studied in France and Spain, before moving to Haiti in 1944. He lived there for 12 years, and then traveled to Puerto Rico. He specialized in figurative works, especially women, painted in a modern style. 800-1200 |
