He was author of a book entitled, The Fascinating Art of Landscape Painting ; REF: Dictionary of California Artists, Hughes. 1000-1500

663. Carl T. Lindin (American, 1869-1942), "Bathing a Child", c.1930; oil/canvas, 30" x 40", signed, fine carved frame. Lindin worked in Chicago and in Woodstock, NY. He was born in Sweden, and studied in Paris with Laurens and Constant. After moving to Chicago, he exhibited at the Swedish Club during the 1910s-20s. He also exhibited at the Woodstock Art association, and his work is in the collections of Hull House (Chicago), Vanderpoel Art Association (Chicago), and the Brooks Memorial Art Gallery (Memphis), active early 20th Century; exhibited at the Art Institute of Chicago in 1930s" This work, most likely painted in New Mexico, is an exceptional example of his work. 2500-3500

664. Dave Stirling (American, early 20th century), "Evening Light, Twin Sisters Mountain", c.1930; oil/board, 30" x 36", signed, nice original frame. Well-known Colorado painter. Stirling studied at the Chicago Academy of Fine Art. He exhibited at the Studio in the Woods, Rocky Mountain National Park (1922-46), and specialized in Rocky Mountain subjects. 1000-1500

665. Charles Reiffel (American, 1862-1942), "California Landscape", c.1930; mixed media/paper, 11" x 11", signed, original southwestern style frame. Reiffel moved to San Diego in 1925. William Gerdts, in All Things Bright and Beautiful, California Impressionist Paintings from the Irvine Museum, discusses Reiffel's unusual style of painting, "Reiffel deliberately sought out scenes bounding in irregular surfaces and contrasting natural forms... His subject matter was...the richly colored mountains that guard San Diego on the North and East. Critics note the impact of European Modernism on his art, especially the planar concerns of Paul Cezanne and the nervous flow of Vincent Van Gogh." 1500-2000
