609. Frederic Grant (American, b.1886), "Venice", c.1920; three panels, making either a tryptich or a screen,
oil/canvas, each measuring 66" x 29" (66" x 87" overall), unsigned, but the work is unmistakably by Grant;
Venice was one of Grant's favorite subjects, and the palette and brushwork is found to be identical when compared
to many works of this subject by Grant. Grant was an important Chicago impressionist painter. He studied
with Chase and Miller, and exhibited at the Art Institute of Chicago, Chicago Artists Guild, and the Chicago
Artists Club. His work is in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum and the Illinois State Museum. 4000-6000 |
