533. Rare George Niedecken table linens, designed for the Frank Lloyd Wright F.C. Bogk house, 1916, Milwaukee, WI.
These 15 pieces consist of two table runners 10"w x 55"l and 20.5"w x 69"l, twelve 15"square napkins, and one 10"w x 14.5"l piece.
They are hand embroidered with blue and brown stitching on off-white linen. These were designed as part of the
totally integrated environment that Wright, working in close collaboration with Niedecken, created for willing clients.
While Wright was traveling between the states and Japan, concentrating his efforts on the Imperial Hotel and Midway
Gardens, Niedecken oversaw the design of the Bogk commission. During this turbulent period Wright completed only a handful
of single family homes. Few examples of original Niedecken and Wright designed textiles are known to exist. The
overall interlocking geometric design of squares, diamonds and circles contained within a rectangle, reflect the basic cubic
rectilinear architecture of the Bogk house. This offering comes directly from the Bogk family. Excellent condition 2000-3000
