702. Mervin Jules (American, b.1912), "The Violin Maker", c.1945; oil/canvas, 22" x 26", signed. Modernist painter and printmaker. Jules studied at the Art Students League with Benton. He exhibited at the Worlds Fair New York (1939); Art Institute of Chicago (1940-46); Museum of Modern Art, and the Boston Museum of Art. He taught at the Museum of Modern Art School and Smith College in the 1940s. 3500-5500
