| 588. Tanasko Milovich (Yugoslavian/American,
b.1900), "Portrait of Two Girls", c.1931; oil/canvas, 36" x 28",
signed and dated, original frame. Milovich studied at the St.
Louis School of Fine Art and in Paris, with Jean Marechal. He
was a member of the St. Louis Artist Guild and the St.
Louis Society of Independent Artists. He exhibited
extensively during the 1920s-40s, at the Salon d' Automne, Denver
Art Museum, Milwaukee Art Institute, Kansas City Art
Institute, and the Spring Salon, Paris. Milovich painted oils
and designed batiks (fabric). He taught at the St. Louis School
of Fine Art. This is an excellent, early example of the
