The Week- End started with a benefit for Unity Temple. Designed by Frank Lloyd Wright (1867-1959) and built between 1906 and 1908, Unity Temple is the last remaining public building from his early Prairie School period and one of the most important buildings in the world. Unity Temple was designated a National Historic Landmark in April, 1970, an early recognition of the building s significance to our cultural and aesthetic heritage. Since the identification of it s importance, the Unity Temple Restoration Foundation has been charged with raising funds to restore the building. This benefit, underwritten by John Toomey & Treadway Galleries, helped raise monies toward the $2 million needed to restore the building that Wright referred to as his little jewel box.

The crowd filled the Auditorium to listen to the presentation by noted Chicago Historian Sharon Darling.

The exhibition of an exceptional gathering of some of the best pottery that Teco had offered brought an enthusiastic audience the rare opportunity to observe important works from the illustrious local ceramic company.
