| 97. Henri Farre (French/American, died
1934), "With the Sky Fighters of France", c.1914;
oil/board, 15" x 23", signed, labels verso.
Farre exhibited at the Paris Salon and the Salon
des Artistes Francois, and in the U.S. He was awarded the medal of Legion of Honor
in France and was a pioneer of painting war pictures by means of aerial observation.
He was appointed by the French Government during WWI to record air fighting from
the sky. 1500-2500
