| 61. Arthur Parton (American,
1842-1914), "Cows Watering at a Stream",
c.1900; oil/canvas, 18" x 24", signed,
fine original frame. New York City landscape painter. Parton studied
with William Trost Richards at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art.
He was a regular exhibitor at the National Academy of Design. In 1886,
he received the gold medal from the American Art Association, and
the Temple Medal from the PAFA. He also won a prize at the Paris Salon in 1900.
His work is included in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
